A friend, Jason, suggested a baneling, which sounded more complicated/detailed than projects such as dogs and cats, but after all, I was the one who asked for suggestions! I kept pushing back the moment where I would just dive in and give it a try, till I finally came up with a sketch/battleplan on how I could do it that I was satisfied with!
I present you the baneling version cutsy ;)

Requirements:
- Crochet Hook G (4,25mm)
- Tapestry Needle
- Green Yarn
- Brown Yarn
- Little of Black, Purple and White Yarn
- Stuffing
Abbreviations used:
- st: stitch
- sc: single crochet
- ss: slip stitch
- fsc: foundation single crochet
- 2 sctog: 2 single crochet together (decrease)

Round 1:
6 sc in magic ring (6)
Round 2:
2 sc in each st around (12)
Round 3:
*1 sc, 2 sc in next st* repeat around (18)
Round 4:
*2 sc, 2 sc in next st* repeat around (24)
Round 5:
*3 sc, 2 sc in next st* repeat around (30)
Round 6:

Big Green Side Poison Pocket (x2):
Ch 2, 4 fsc, 3sc in
turn, 3sc, 2sc in turn, join with ss.
Small Green Side Poison Pocket (x2):
Ch 2, 3 fsc, 3sc in
turn, 2sc, 2sc in turn, join with ss.
Assembly line (use pictures to guide you).
Mouth and eyes:
Push the « nose »
(tip) of the body inside to create the mouth, use the tapestry needle
and white yarn to keep it in place by creating the teeth.
With the tapestry
needle and black yarn, saw in the eyes.
Attach the poison
pockets between the bumped lines created on the body.
With the tapestry
needle and purple yarn, create some shapes on the edge of the body
(to give it some zerg « gross » aspect:)).
Stuff body firmly
and poison ball less firmly and attach them with the purple yarn.
Stuff the legs and
attach them to the body, making sure that the baneling can stand by
itself!
Let the creation of
the banelings army begin!

ReplyDeleteThanks! You should list your baneling pattern in Ravelry with the name "starcraft". Cause I didnt find yours at the first glance, almost missed it!
Oh! Is there a specific part of the pockets that throw you off? This was one of the first patterns I wrote so I might try to rewrite it in a clearer way!
DeleteIn essence, how the pockets are done are with a few foundation single crochet, then a couple of single crochet into the last foundation stitch, then single crochet on every stitch on the other side, then a couple of single crochet in the last stitch, to create an oval. The foundation single crochet can be replaced by a chain + single crochet in each stitch of the chain (I just prefer the foundation ones!).
If you have ever made any, it's the same way that baby shoe soles are made, but in a small version.
